its all so clear to me now.

so.. the shower soap is finished, and since i have enjoyed the smell of my previous one i decided to buy the same..
i took a check of the label to remember the name of the brand.. and what do I see??

"Whitening"

How did I miss that before??

And here i have been going around complaining that i am too pale to live in Asia..
CLEARLY, my daily shower is NOT helping my tan.

"Shokubutsu- whitening body foam" - Do not try this at home!!

Whitening effects... perfect for teeth, absurd for the skin.. (stupid asian innovations)
think the well known and loved tanning cremes from europe is a much better choice for me..

lalalalatin

Saturday night me and Nico had dinner with Ralf and his friends in his latin restaurant. The had a latin band playing live music and it was a nice atmosphere.

After dinner I took a taxi to caroline and martas flat where the preparty was in full action. We later on continued to supper club where we danced in the crowd..
sunday was therefore a tough day, with no more than greasy food and cinema on the schedule.

And so 3 became 4..

On Friday night we increased the number of masterpieces covered on nicos body. We went to “galaxy tattoo”, a tattoo studio in Chinatown with the best artists in Singapore. This time it was an anchor to be made in colored old school style. The artist had been studying in Japan and was totally amazing. I was fascinated when I was standing watching him coloring the skin of my darling…

After a successful stay in the studio we wanted to continue the night in the same spirit. Lately we have had many conversations about home. Swedish and Italian food is very often a discussed topic, as well as how much we miss the rain, cold and dark fall back home..

We therefore decided to go for dinner to “fika”. Fika is a swedish restaurant/café in arab street where they serve Swedish food in a homely environment..

Oh my god, how we enjoyed it. Fiesta!! I ordered a smoked salmon, egg, shrimp salad with a click of kaviar.. Nico ate pannbiff with mashed potatoes and lingonberry.. Both of us were just mumbling “MMmmm” and when the knäckebröd was served we both closed our eyes and enjoyed the taste..

Later on we stopped for a drink in BluJazz, where they had a live jazz band jamming on the stage.

Perfect Friday night!!

smoothie addicted

will miss the massive choices and availability of all the smoothies when we leave asia.

fruit of the day

Mangosteen – also known as “Queen of fruits”

Outside;
Brown/ dark purple with a green hat. Hard shell (you need a knife to cut it open)

Inside: Inside is divided in small pieces of fruit flesh. Looks like small garlic pieces of white creamy flesh. One black seed in one of the “garlic pieces”.. (Can be more)

Taste; Very sweet and exotic. A bit acid.

Consistency; Very soft, juicy, watery and mucous.  A bit crunchy.

Deborah’s judgment
: 8/10 stars “Super tasty. Tastes like mango but a bit more tart”

Victoria’s judgment: 6,5/10 “Hmm. Creepy consistence. A bit slimy. The taste is sweet, mild and nice. I feel like a pessimist. Take a mature mango the next time ;)”

Eve’s judgment: 8/10 stars “Love the idea and look of this fruit. Fun to eat. Very sweet. Delicious ”

crocodile dundee

New food experience for us; dried crocodile meat.
Pretty tasty actually..

And due to Nico's huge lack of "real meat" this is his new snack on the go..
Easy to keep in the bag and take a piece when you feel like something animalistic.

Voyage De La Vie

Wonderful!!

Ralf, our lovely friend, works as the hotel manager of Sentosa resort hotel, a really nice family resort here in Singapore.

Last Thursday he invited me Nico and Olivia to join him for the circus show; Voyage De La Vie.

He got us great tickets in the front and we enjoyed the show to the maximum…

The circus is a contemporary circus theater with song, dance and fantastic settings and acrobats. The show is a bit similar to “cirque de soleil” and the first one in Singapore.

After the show we got to meet one of the stars and take a photo. This little guy was 16 years old from Russia, with the most flexible (a bit disgusting) body I have ever seen.

We had a fabulous evening with a delicious dinner, some drinks, a great show and great company. Thanks Ralf!!

Pictures from Ralfs hotel in Sentosa, Singapore. So cute!!
Would die if I was 7 years old and my parents brought me there... (Rose= do not disturb sign)

Sweet(!!) weekend

Monday morning. Always as unpleasant.

The weekend has been entertaining with some chocolate and dancing.

On Friday night I met up with a whole bunch of Swedish girls. We had reserved a table in the fullerton hotel for the well-known chocolate buffet. Mmmmmm!

3 hours of chocolate in any form you can imagine. Gossip, coffee, live classic violin music and all the indulgence of cocoa you can find… We were in heaven!! Me, Deborah and Lisa tried every single piece of the buffet and found some really interesting favorites.

With the biggest sugar rush I have ever had I continued the night to Pan pacific and the club stereolab to meet up with Ralf and his friends. We had a really good time and he was the king of the dance floor. Nico came and joined us in the later hours before heading home for some needed sleep.

Saturday was the warmest day in my life. The temperature was skyhigh so me and Nico decided to spend the day on the beach.

Around 9 I met up with Lisa and Monika for some preparty in the student accommodation of our university. It was very nice but due to the heat we were all sweating so much that we all felt bad. Luckily we headed to the stereolab (again) where it was a bit more bearable with the aircondition. It was really much people but we enjoyed the night!

Sunday was a lazy day.. not much more to add!!

fruit of the day

Custard apple

A funny fruit we found in vietnam

Outside; green, looking like a artichoke .

Inside; like an apple. or similar to a guava. black seeds

Taste; Very sweet, a bit similar to guava & mango.

Consistency; Again like a really mature guava. very soft and a bit muchy.

Deborah’s judgment: 4/10 stars "Like a mixture between banana, apple and with a consistency of a peach."

Victoria´s judgment: 3/10 stars "Tastes like mango with milk"

Eve’s judgment: 5,5/10 stars “Quite good. Funny to eat. Like the consistency. Sweet and cute ”

Vietnam

What a trip.

So much we have seen and experienced.. Me, Victoria and Deborah, two Swedish girls from my school had no lectures for the recess week and decided to go a week to Vietnam.

We flew to Saigon / Ho Chi Minh on Monday and arrived to a rainy, busy, vibrant city with the most incredible and crazy traffic I have ever seen. We spent the day visiting the markets and the war museum, which was really interesting, although it was really horrible and heartbreaking seeing all the pictures, mines and monuments for the war.

The second day we went to the Mekong Delta. We visited a floating market, saw the creation of rice cakes and rice paper (for their famous spring rolls).

We went by longboat in the most amazing canals and rivers and went biking on the island. During our biking trip we (me deb and victoria) stopped for coffee in a Vietnamese family coffee place. We played with the two adorable kids and although we could not exchange one single word by mouth we used all body language possible and enjoyed our little visit and had a cozy get together with the entire family, including granddad and grandmum.

The adorable kids we stayed with.

The third day we went by bus to Phan Thiet and Mui neh on the coast to check in at a cute little hostel by the beach. We spent some days at the beach and really much enjoyed the heat of the sun and the extremely warm sea. =)

One of the mornings the alarm went off at 4.20. Our guide that we rented for the day came and picked us up in an open jeep to take us to the sanddunes for the sunrise.

It was astonishing. The most beautiful vision you can imagine. Seeing the sun rising over the desert. We also tried to go “pulka” sliding in the sand.. not so successfully, but very fun! After the sanddunes he brought us to see some amazing nature views. We saw a stream called the fairy springs and the red sand canyon..

After breakfast he brought us to the local market where they sold everything from vegetables and fruits, to living chickens and other animals.

On the way back we stopped in the fishing harbor where the fishermen came in with the catches of the early morning..

We had a really good time and enjoyed the sun, happenings and fresh seafood all days long.

Unluckily I had a more boring ending as we already know.. But I can really recommend Vietnam. Although I warn you to hold on to the bag and maybe practice some self defense before the trip ;)

Sad ending of a great trip!

Yes, here I am.
Back in Singapore after a dramatic ending in Vietnam.

Do not have any of my 500 amazing photos to share with you, since my camera was stolen together with all my money.

Since Deborah and Victoria was going to stay longer than me in Vietnam, I had to take a nightbus for 5 hours alone to get from Mui ne to Saigon.
On the bus a less friendly vietnamese man behind me felt he deserved my belongings more than me.

And the rest of the bus passengers were probabaly sharing his idea and nobody did liked to help me. "The stupid tourist should not come to their country and make a scene, calling somebody a thief."

This resulted in a confused, scared and poor swedish girl, alone in Saigon 6 o'clock in the morning with no money to go to the airport, eat or do anything.. and with nobody speaking english in my surrounding..
To add to the drama I had no phone and no way to get in contact with anyone.

Luckily there are some angels walking around on this planet!!
An old lady knew some english and told me to grab my bag, jump onto her vespa and follow her home.
Since I didnt have much alternatives and choices, I followed her home and she gave me breakfast and borrowed me her internet.

After some dramatic hours of being completely neglected and ignored by the police officers, and later trying to find a taxidriver who understood what the airport is, I was on the plane to Singapore.

I have never been so happy to be back in Little India, and I can not tell the joy I felt when my love opened the door of the flat.
Drama, drama.

Anyhow, It was an amzing trip before the incident..I will try to get hold of some pictures from Deborah and Victoria and will tell you about the week in Vietnam later..

fruit of the day

Indonesian Snakefruit “Salak”

Outside; brown, shape of a fig and as well a bit reminding of a passion fruit. But the shell is similar to a snakeskin in the pattern; therefore the name.

Inside; 3 beige/ light yellow pieces of fruit meet, like a garlic. The pieces are almost like chestnuts. Within these 3 “garlic pieces” there is a big brown seed.

Taste; Very sweet, a bit similar to pineapple.

Consistency; Crunchy and moist consistency. Almost similar to a fresh coconut

buying snake fruit on the market in Bali

Eve’s judgment: 8/10 stars “Really good. Nice to eat. Love the consistency. Looks cool as well”

Nico’s judgment:
