singapore sling

The Singapore Sling is a cocktail that was developed by Ngiam Tong Boon,  a bartender working at the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel in Singapore before 1915.

It is there trademark drink so of course we HAD to try it before leaving....

This is what we thought about it:

Evelina; Disgusting!!
Nico; Bullshit!!

way to sweet and not good at all. but now we know!!

thank you!

Gunter!!!

I have to take this moment to say that I have the best boyfriend on earth!!

Yesterday was our anniversary (1,5 year we stood eachother so far)
and we had the best night ever! My guy knows how to please his girl..

He brought me to "Gunters", a french modern restaurant, that is in the top 100 in the world.

We ate 9 delicious courses and trust me, we were in heaven and paradise for more than 3 hours.. The food is impossible to describe, except from simply; ITS AMAZING!!!

Doesnt sound bad no?

The star!!

Nico knows the chef Gunter through work so he came out and spoke a bit so we could complement him for his work..

I love you Nico, Thanks for yesterday and every other day!!

hardrock cafe

To celebrate that the exams were over for me, Lisa and Caroline (and to rub it in the other's faces) we went for a tuesday night dinner in hardrock cafe..
And OFCOURSE they had construction buildings in front of the cafe.. but the food was good anyway!

Ciao!

Divine, and it really was

After a nice dinner in BluJazz round arab street on friday night, we decided to check out a winebar we had been adviced to visit.

The Winebar was called "Divine" and it truly was...

The most elegant and classy venue that felt like a 5 star hotel.

The atmosphere was very graceful with live music from a trio playing piano, violin and one lady singing.

The menu consisted of 3 books of different wines, red, white and sparkling from all the winecountries of the world.

The most extraordinary thing with the bar was the "fairy" or ballerina- angel that was lifted to "fly" and get the wine from the most beautiful wine rack when someone ordered a bottle.
Many times while we were sitting enjoying our cozy friday night with our drinks we viewed the girl beeing raised to the ceiling.. so cute!!

see how amazing she was flying..

me and the wine-fairy of the night

Mixa nytta med nöje

When everything feels grey and you are sitting with your statistics and not understanding anything..then it is time to sparkle the reality up..

A random wednesday night in "Lantern Bar"- an amazing bar in Fullerton Bay Hotel.
A nice view, a glass of wine and you are back to the bright, sweet reality again...

Btw, the medication worked against my dizziness..
Thanks doc!! (think its time they loosen up in sweden and offer more super pills.great!)

you spin my head round

For 5 days now I have been walking around feeling constantly drunk.
My head is spinning like a carousel...round,round,round....

okey, i love rollercosters, but it is slightly less enjoyable when im sitting in the school library, trying to read statistics.

went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me some pills..
dont know at all if he found the reason since he started by checking my throat and eyes.. from what i thought the balance is in the ear. but maybe thats why im not a doctor aswell!?
lets see if my world will stop spinning or if the everlasting party in my head will continue the entire weekend...

to be continued...

wake up call

right now im sitting here outside with my morning coffee.. this is something i will miss.. having breakfast outside in the morning.. luxury for any swede..

golden cinema

on saturday the 2 cinema nerds decided to spoilt themselves and bought 2 tickets for the GOLDEN CINEMA.

The choice of movie was “due date” and they were really pumped and excited.

They warmed up with a nice dinner in “brotzeit”, where they always treat us like the royalties. (I guess they think nico is a very important person within the company)  however, we really enjoy good times there.

Anyways, Time for the cinema..

They walked the red carpet, entered the lounge and were placed in the salon… wow wow wow

The waitress showed us our seats and gave us the menu filled with delicate food, desserts, wine and champagne. “if you need anything just push the button”.

The seats were paired 2 and 2, armchairs wide and soft as beds with blankets and tables.. I immediately opened the menu. And the look of Nicos face was indescribable when he realized the seats were electronically adjustable.

His face had a big watermelon smile as he slowly customized the seat to a laying position while I gladly enjoyed the offered waitress service with red wine, blueberry cheesecake and fudge with ice cream.

The movie was okey, The experience GREAT!

swedish thainight in chinatown,singapore

on friday night i met up with the swedish girls to enjoy some thaifood in chinatown to celebrate the indian new-year in singapore.. confusing?
definately..

but it was really good and very nice and exactly what i needed after a week in bed with stomach flu..

A cowboy is born..

On thursday we went back to chinatown..
it was time for this man to take a journey back to his roots... one step closer to a real cowboy...

4 quickly became 5..
we welcome the PONY to our body collection!

fredagsfika and sundaybrunch

One more weekend has come and gone.

Time flies, and we are already in November... Jisses!!

Anyhow, I had another fab weekend in Singapura..

Friday was celebrated with the swedish bunch (+ 1 norweigan) in "Fika" for a nice dinner.
So tasty to swap the asian food for some fresh swedish cuisine once in a while..

After dinner I met up with Nico and we went for a while to meet up with his girlfriends..

On saturday we went spending the day in Vivocity shoppingmall and finished the evening with dinner and drinks in BluJaz where we ate some delicious grilled meet.
Later on I met up with the girls in Clarke Quay where there were tons of people dressed up/out for Halloween.. some with really amazing outfits.

Sunday was the best day in a long time..

I had already booked a date with my darling. I brought him to Outram park and an australian place with delicious sunday brunch.

Fruitsmoothies. toast and bacon. smoked salmon. scrambled eggs. cinnamon french toast. fruitsalad with yoghurt and granola. ice coffe.
M M M M M M M M M.. YUMMIIE!!

We sat down for a couple of hours with magazines and soft sunday music to enjoy the delicious fiesta.

The slow sunday futher continued in Arab street and Haji Lane where we checked out the cool designer and vintage stores.. The evening offered sushi in sushi Tei and a movie at home with fruitsalad and snacks..

what a wonderful day!!

its all so clear to me now.

so.. the shower soap is finished, and since i have enjoyed the smell of my previous one i decided to buy the same..
i took a check of the label to remember the name of the brand.. and what do I see??

"Whitening"

How did I miss that before??

And here i have been going around complaining that i am too pale to live in Asia..
CLEARLY, my daily shower is NOT helping my tan.

"Shokubutsu- whitening body foam" - Do not try this at home!!

Whitening effects... perfect for teeth, absurd for the skin.. (stupid asian innovations)
think the well known and loved tanning cremes from europe is a much better choice for me..

lalalalatin

Saturday night me and Nico had dinner with Ralf and his friends in his latin restaurant. The had a latin band playing live music and it was a nice atmosphere.

After dinner I took a taxi to caroline and martas flat where the preparty was in full action. We later on continued to supper club where we danced in the crowd..
sunday was therefore a tough day, with no more than greasy food and cinema on the schedule.

And so 3 became 4..

On Friday night we increased the number of masterpieces covered on nicos body. We went to “galaxy tattoo”, a tattoo studio in Chinatown with the best artists in Singapore. This time it was an anchor to be made in colored old school style. The artist had been studying in Japan and was totally amazing. I was fascinated when I was standing watching him coloring the skin of my darling…

After a successful stay in the studio we wanted to continue the night in the same spirit. Lately we have had many conversations about home. Swedish and Italian food is very often a discussed topic, as well as how much we miss the rain, cold and dark fall back home..

We therefore decided to go for dinner to “fika”. Fika is a swedish restaurant/café in arab street where they serve Swedish food in a homely environment..

Oh my god, how we enjoyed it. Fiesta!! I ordered a smoked salmon, egg, shrimp salad with a click of kaviar.. Nico ate pannbiff with mashed potatoes and lingonberry.. Both of us were just mumbling “MMmmm” and when the knäckebröd was served we both closed our eyes and enjoyed the taste..

Later on we stopped for a drink in BluJazz, where they had a live jazz band jamming on the stage.

Perfect Friday night!!

smoothie addicted

... yes, thats me!!

will miss the massive choices and availability of all the smoothies when we leave asia.
all the fresh fruit and delicious drinks!! blueberry, strawberry and the ever loved mango..

mmm..
favourite right now; banana, oats, honey and soyamilk smoothie.. Mmm.

crocodile dundee

New food experience for us; dried crocodile meat.
Pretty tasty actually..

And due to Nico's huge lack of "real meat" this is his new snack on the go..
Easy to keep in the bag and take a piece when you feel like something animalistic.

Voyage De La Vie

Wonderful!!

Ralf, our lovely friend, works as the hotel manager of Sentosa resort hotel, a really nice family resort here in Singapore.

Last Thursday he invited me Nico and Olivia to join him for the circus show; Voyage De La Vie.

He got us great tickets in the front and we enjoyed the show to the maximum…

The circus is a contemporary circus theater with song, dance and fantastic settings and acrobats. The show is a bit similar to “cirque de soleil” and the first one in Singapore.

After the show we got to meet one of the stars and take a photo. This little guy was 16 years old from Russia, with the most flexible (a bit disgusting) body I have ever seen.

We had a fabulous evening with a delicious dinner, some drinks, a great show and great company. Thanks Ralf!!

Pictures from Ralfs hotel in Sentosa, Singapore. So cute!!
Would die if I was 7 years old and my parents brought me there... (Rose= do not disturb sign)

Sweet(!!) weekend

Monday morning. Always as unpleasant.

The weekend has been entertaining with some chocolate and dancing.

On Friday night I met up with a whole bunch of Swedish girls. We had reserved a table in the fullerton hotel for the well-known chocolate buffet. Mmmmmm!

3 hours of chocolate in any form you can imagine. Gossip, coffee, live classic violin music and all the indulgence of cocoa you can find… We were in heaven!! Me, Deborah and Lisa tried every single piece of the buffet and found some really interesting favorites.

With the biggest sugar rush I have ever had I continued the night to Pan pacific and the club stereolab to meet up with Ralf and his friends. We had a really good time and he was the king of the dance floor. Nico came and joined us in the later hours before heading home for some needed sleep.

Saturday was the warmest day in my life. The temperature was skyhigh so me and Nico decided to spend the day on the beach.

Around 9 I met up with Lisa and Monika for some preparty in the student accommodation of our university. It was very nice but due to the heat we were all sweating so much that we all felt bad. Luckily we headed to the stereolab (again) where it was a bit more bearable with the aircondition. It was really much people but we enjoyed the night!

Sunday was a lazy day.. not much more to add!!

Living in a coconut

if we come back to europe a bit changed.. dont blame us.

we are living in a nest of seriously weird birds..trust me;

1)  we live next door to a british old (around 60 years) santaclause, living with his "boyfriend", an old skinny australian man with mustache..

these guys are very talkative and creepy, and if u accidentally meet them in the hallway you are sure to be stuck there to listen to their histories about life, death and food.. not very interesting.

to add to the awkwardness they have given me a nickname; “everlasting love”.

to add even MORE to the weirdness they occasionally fight inside their room... when you hear and old man yelling to another old man; "dont hit me in the head you bloody bastard" it is time to look yourself inside your room til the storm is over.

2) occasionally when you open the door you find 3 phillipin guys dancing vals or tango..together.. randomly!

this implies that we sometimes hear classical music in the late hours, with the repeating guidelines 1,2,3..1,2,3...

apparently they are dance teachers that cannot legally work in singapore..guess thats why they feel like transforming our livingroom to their private dance studio

3) another phillipine guy introduced himself in the kitchen the other day. i have already met this guy ans spoken to him many times. but apparently not! he told me not to be afraid or confused if i see him around alot or in different outfits; he apparently shared room with his twin brother which is a complete(!!!) copy.

4) as I stated before you frequently hear puking sounds from the corridor. especially from an old chinese businessman that seems to be highly unable to talk.

5) and the other day the old gay couple accused me of stealing their cucumber(!!??) First of all; we keep our cucumber in OUR fridge. Second of all; if I would steal something, would I honestly steal a cucumber from them?

Anyways, tomorrow we leave the nut house and spend the weekend in BALI!! =)

Fair breakfast?

She- buys oats, make porridge, keeping it simple

He
- HAS to HAVE the quality ham for breakfast. And not any ham..CHAMPAGNE ham!! Golden boy..

I wonder; Where is the equality?
